About Water Mission
Every March, Water Mission hosts its biggest fundraiser and advocacy event of the year – the Walk for Water. Over 4,000 participants carry buckets of dirty water through the streets of North Charleston to represent the walk that 2.1 billion people make every day just to collect dirty water. This year we’re hoping to see over 5,000 people walk with us on Saturday, March 30th. To make this possible, we need an incredible team of 300 volunteers to support every area of the Walk.
From setting up tents and tables in the early hours of the morning, holding fact signs on the route, distributing 5,000 buckets, to even just giving our participants high fives and fist bumps to get them excited. Our volunteers really make it happen. This year, we also have the opportunity to receive funding from the Cooper River Bridge Run the weekend of April 7. Whether you’re working one of the expo booths to raise awareness of Water Mission, setting up tables and chairs for a “Taste of the Bridge Run” event or handing out water to thirsty runners on the course, there are lots of fun ways to engage in this classic Charleston event while earning your High Water ticket. Click the link below to view our available shifts and register to become a volunteer for the 2019 Walk for Water or Cooper River Bridge Run events.
Be sure to select the events that say “High Water Shift” to secure your spot in the ticket earning program. You are responsible for signing up and attending 10 hours worth of volunteer shifts to earn your ticket. The shifts and tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. In other words, there are more volunteer hours available online than tickets to earn. So, once 100 people earn their tickets – they’re gone. Join us, and together, we will create awesome events that help transform lives around the world! Looking forward to partnering with you.
